The parking information I gave in the last post seems to be out of date. There has been a lot of construction in the area of the Carolyn Tanner Irish Humanities Building, and the road that I indicated in the map is now blocked.

The parking area in yellow highlighter is still accessible but it’s now accessible through an enterance to the parking area above the hatchmarks in the map I posted in the last blog entry. There is a sign pointing to it that says, “High School Football General Parking.”  Follow that down through that small lot and into the larger lot. The CTIHB will be the large new building at the corner of that larger lot as seen in the map.

This just came to my attention a few minutes ago. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Please feel free to pass this along. You an email us at saltlakemormonstudies@gmail.com for a .pdf.  Hope to see you there!

Opening Social Rescheduled

Due to scheduling issues, the date and place of the Opening Social has changed.

It will now be November 19, 2009 on the third floor common area of the Carolyn Tanner Irish Humanities Building at 6:30 pm. Refreshments will be served.  If you are a student at a college or university in Salt Lake County, please come to mingle and learn about the Association and future events.

As a result, the lecture by Paul Reeve that was scheduled for November 19, will be rescheduled.

However, the lecture by Kristine Haglund December 3, 2009 will proceed as scheduled with further information on the location coming soon.

Opening Social Scheduled!

The SLMSSA would like Salt Lake area students to join us November 12, 2009 at the Common Room in the A. Ray Olpin University Union building at the University of Utah at 6 pm. The Common Room is on the main (2nd) floor. [see updated post]

Please join us as we get acquainted, briefly discuss the goals of the Association, future events, and some recent developments in Mormon Studies.

Please email us at saltlakemormonstudies@gmail.com with any questions.

Hope to see you there!

Welcome to the blog of the Salt Lake Mormon Studies Student Association. It is my hope that this Association will promote and facilitate the scholarly study of Mormonism among graduate and undergraduate students–primarily in the Salt Lake City area. This blog will be the public face of the Association. Through it, we will make announcements, including event notifications, so check back often for updated information.

Thanks, and I look forward to an eventful year.
